Note: Antiquarian book and printseller, James Rimell senior founded the firm about 1841, using only his own name. His son, also James, succeeded him about 1845, and brought his son, George James, into the business about 1861; at some point after that the corporate name was adopted. James junior retired in 1895 and died on 13 August 1900; George James continued the business under the corporate name, at least into the 1930s.
