Record Type: Person
K'inich Kan Bahlam I (Mayan ruler, 524-583)

Note: Kan Bahlam I followed Ahkal Mo' Nahb II on the throne of Palenque in AD 572. Because they were born just a year apart, it is assumed that they were brothers. Kan Bahlam was the first Palenque ruler to use "k'nich" (meaning "radiant") before his name, a constant that would be used by later monarchs.
