Felix III, Pope (Italian pope and saint, died 492)

Note: Known as Felix II or Felix III, depending if the antipope Felix (355-365) is reckoned as Felix II. He succeeded Pope Saint Simplicius. Noted for the excommunication of the patriarch of Constantinople, Acacias for supporting Monophysitism, creating the 35-year Acacian Schism. He convened the Lateran Council of 487, which fixed conditions for readmission to the church of Africans who had been rebaptized by the Vandals. |
