Schulthess, Armand (Swiss self-taught artist, 1901-1972)
|
Note: Reclusive Swiss artist created an environment that he considered a garden of human knowledge. He created and displayed metal tablets inscribed with texts on various subjects, sometimes arrayed in sculptural constructions. He also assembled collaged "encyclopedias" of found materials. At his death most of his work was destroyed by his heirs. |
