Note: Innovative filmmaker whose unconventional cinematography, narrative style, and focus on radical politics was influential in the 1960s. As a young critic in the 1950s, Godard was one of several writers who turned Cahiers du Cinéma into a critical force. Many of these writers later became filmmakers themselves. |
