Biorn, Emil (American painter, sculptor, and illustrator, 1864-1934, born in Norway)

Note: Emil Biørn was born in Oslo, Norway, June 7, 1864. He studied at the Royal Norwegian School of Drawing, Lindeman's School of Music in Oslo, and at the Chicago Art Institute. In 1887, Biørn emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Chicago where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a painter, sculptor, caricaturist, and book illustrator, a commercial artist by profession, and was also known as a choral conductor and composer. He was married in Chicago on December 23, 1891, to Sigrid Lowum. Many of his art works have Norwegian themes.
