Note: Italian patron and diplomat. Born in Venice into the aristocratic Barbaro family, from father Francesco di Daniele Barbaro and mother Elena Pisani, daughter of the banker Alvise Pisani and Cecilia Giustinian. Patron of architect Palladio, who created the Villa Barbaro. He and his brother Daniele probably influenced the design of the house. Marc'Antonio was an amateur sculptor who had input into the design of the garden of the new house. |
