Note: As a "maréchal de camp" during the wars of Polish and Austrian succession, Cormontaingne was the "directeur des fortifications des places de Moselle". During peace time, Cormontaingne altered the fortifications at Thionville and Metz, and was the engineer of the "forts Belle-Croix et Moselle". |
