Baqir (Persian enameler, active ca. 1800-1830)
|
Note: Baqir was the court artist of the Qajar monarch Fath 'Ali Shah (reigned 1797-1834). He was known for his delicate execution and utilization of brilliant color. One of his masterpieces is a set consisting of a golden bowl, cover, saucer, and spoon; they are enameled with astrological figures and a poetic dedication to the monarch. He signed his works with the inscription, 'ghulām khānazād.' |
