Cossutius (Roman architect, active ca. 170 BCE)
|
Note: Considered the first known Roman architect, Cossutius was most likely from Hellenized Campania. His surviving work was considered learned and advanced compared to other contemporary structures. Among other structured, Cossutius was known to have worked on the Temple of Olympian Zeus at Athens as well an aqueduct near Antioch in Syria (where his name is inscribed). |
