Note: Riese was an abstract painter; she was also noted for her textile designs. She was a former president of the American Abstract Artists Association and she was a member of A.I.R. Gallery, the first nonprofit artist-run New York gallery for women. Riese was also a collector of African art; her collection is now in the Brooklyn Museum. |
