Douglas-Hill, Otto D. (German ceramicist, 1897-1972)

Note: German sculptor who took up ceramics after being injuring in the First World War I. In 1922 he established a pottery in Munich, later taking over (1926-1927) the Wertheim'schen Steingutfabrik. In 1929 he founded his own Keramik Manufaktur, specializing in vessels of simple form. Douglas-Hill made full-scale drawings for the vessels but, unlike most art potters, he had assistants do the practical work.
