Sheldon, Charles Mills (American journalist and illustrator, 1866-1928)
|
Note: Sheldon was an illustrator and war correspondent who worked for a number of English and American publications during the 1890s and early 1900s. Early in his career, Sheldon traveled throughout the southern part of the United States, illustrating articles for various periodicals. He later served in the Spanish-American War as a journalist and worked in South Africa, the Sudan, Egypt, India, Cuba, and several countries in Europe. During his travels, Sheldon wrote, almost daily, his wife, Grace, giving first-hand accounts of his travels and contemporary events. The letters are in the collection of Swem Library. |
