Note: Bute suceeded to earldom in 1723, later becoming Earl Secretary of State in 1761 and Prime Minister in 1762. Bute negotiated the Treaty of Paris in 1763, then resigned as Prime Minister that same year. Bute provided guidance to Augusta, Dowager Princess of Wales, regarding the design of the gardens now known as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. |
