Gros, Jean Baptiste Louis (French photographer and diplomat, 1793-1870)

Note: Gros began producing daguerreotypes in Paris in 1839. In 1840, Gros produced daguerreotypes of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1842, Gros photographed in Bogota, Columbia. During the 1840s, Gros produced daguerreotypes around France, including photographs of the Panthéon and Notre-Dame, Paris, Sainte-Croix d'Orléans, Amboise, and Chambord. In 1850, Gros photographed the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Gros made daguerreotypes of London, England, United Kingdom in 1851. Gros served as the first president of the Société héliographique, Paris, in 1851. In 1854, Gros was a founding member of the Société française de photographie.
