Hayden, Palmer C. (American painter, 1893-1973)

Note: Palmer C. Hayden was an African-American artist born in Widewater, Virginia. After serving in World War I, he moved to New York City to study art. This pursuit lead him to Maine and France. After his studies he returned to New York City where he became one of the leading painters of the Harlem Renaissance.
