Peckitt, William (British glass painter, 1731-1795)
|
Note: Peckitt was active in his native York as well as in Oxford and Cambridge, where he made the "Alma Mater" window (1774-1775) in the library of Trinity College, Cambridge, after an oil painting by Giovanni Battista Cipriani depicting "George III Enthroned and Receiving Laurels from History and Fame." Peckitt helped to install the medieval stained glass that Horace Walpole was importing from the Continent for his Gothic Revival villa, Strawberry Hill, in Twickenham.
