Diamond, Hugh Welch (English photographer, physician, and antiquary, 1809-1886)

Note: In 1839 Diamond began experimenting with photogenic processes. During the 1850s Diamond made photographs using the collodion process of the patients of the female department of the Surrey County Asylum where he was superintendent. These photographs were made for medical records as well as for treatment of insanity. Also during the 1850s Diamond photographed objects and places of antiquarian interest as he served as the honourary photographer for the Society of Antiquaries.
