Dieu, Jean de (French sculptor, 1652-1727)
|
Note: A sculptor during the reign of Louis XIV of France, Dieu was never received into the French Academy but received a gold medal in 1685. He was close friends with the sculptor Pierre Puget, who lived with him in Paris from 1683. He restored the ancient 'Venus of Arles' in 1676; it is now in the Louvre, Paris. |
