Delaistre, François-Nicolas (French sculptor, 1746-1832)

Note: He won the Prix de Rome in 1772 with a relief of Balthazar. He spent four years in Rome, returning to Paris in 1777, where he began exhibiting in the Salon. Primarily a religious sculpture, the artistic mood of the Revolution was secular, and commissions became scarce (even though he exhibited through 1824). Comment on works: Sculptor
