McClees, James Earle (American photographer and art dealer, 1821-1887)
|
Note: Died 2 May 1887. In 1844, McClees learned the daguerreotype process from M.P. Simons in Philadelphia. In 1846, McClees fromed a partnership with Washington Lafayette Germon called "McClees & Germon". The Philadelphia firm, which operated until 1854, specialized in views of the city. From 1855 to 1867, McClees operated photographic galleries in Philadelphia. In 1867, he sold his business to one of his employees, William Bell. He then became an art dealer. |
