Watanabe, Yoshio (Japanese photographer, 1907-2000)
|
Note: Born 21 April 1907. From 1925 to 1928, Watanabe studied at the Tokyo School of Photography. From 1928 to 1930, he worked in the photography department of Photo Times magazine, Tokyo. He acted as editor of the magazine from 1930 to 1934. In 1935, Watanabe established the Watanabe Studio in Ginza, Tokyo. Since 1940, he has worked as a freelance photographer in Tokyo. From 1941 to 1945, Watanabe was the director of the Japan Press Photography Society, Tokyo. Watanabe began teaching at Nihon University, Tokyo, in 1950, and became a professor of art in 1958. In 1978, he became the director of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. |
