Flemming, Alex (Brazilian painter, born 1954)
|
Note: Alex Flemming attended the free filmmaking course at the Armando Alvares Penteado in São Paulo between 1972 and 1974. Attended silkscreen with Regina Silveira (1939) and Julio Plaza (1938-2003), and engraving with Romildo Paiva (1938), between 1979 and 1980. In the 1970s, he made short films and participated in film festivals. In 1981, he traveled to New York, where he remained for two years developing design at Pratt Institute, with scholarship from the Fulbright Foundation. From the 1990s, he made interventions in exhibition spaces and autobiographical paintings. He was professor of Kunstakademie Oslo, Norway, between 1993 and 1994. Lived in Germany since 1995, but still frequently exhibiting in Brazil. |
