Record Type: Corporate Body
Throbbing Gristle (English performance and musical group, active primarily 1976-1981)

Note: A group conceived primarily to perform and record music, the members came from an art and performance background that informed their production. They coined the term "industrial music" to describe the genre of heavy and loud electronic sound that they employed, and released recordings on their own label, Industrial Records. Throbbing Gristle announced their dissolution in 1981, but reformed in 2004 and released three more studio albums before disbanding again after P-Orridge's departure and Christopherson's death in Autumn 2010.
