Note: Anonymous master illuminator active in Paris between 1462 and 1480. He was later identified as an artist named Francois le Barbier, documented from 1455 to 1472. Earlier scholars identified Maître François as one of Jean Fouquet's sons, but this hypothesis is rejected by the latter's specialists. |
