Minagawa Kien (Japanese painter, 1734-1807)

Note: A Confucian scholar from Kyoto, Kien was an experienced lecturer in Chinese classics. He knew many of the painters and calligraphers of his day; and his inscriptions appear on many of their works. His paintings were popular and were often copied and forged.
