Carvalho, Josely (Brazilian painter, born 1942)
|
Note: Brazilian plastic artist, she lives between Rio de Janeiro and New York. Moved to the USA in 1967, where, the same year, she graduated in architecture by the Washington University. During the 1980s, she initiated experiments with electronic and digital means. In 2013, she created the work Memorial Armênia, a permanent installation at the Armênia subway station, in São Paulo (SP), in memory of the Armenian genocide. In the 2000s, she was awarded with a scholar ship from the Rockefeller Foundation to study at the Bellagio International Study and Conference Center. |

Mudou-se para os Estados Unidos em 1967, onde se formou em arquitetura pela Washington University em 1967. Na década de 80 inicia seus experimentos com recursos eletrônicos e digitais. Em 2013 criou a obra Memorial Armênia, uma instalação permanente na estação de metrô Armênia, em São Paulo (SP), em memória ao genocídio armênio. Nos anos 2000, é premiada pela Rockefeller Foundation, que lhe concedeu uma bolsa para estudar na Bellagio International Study and Conference Center |
