Note: Was employed by the high nobility and royal family to design public buildings and private residences; appointed royal architect in 1646 and was sent to study in Italy, France and Holland. Tessin is noted for designing palaces and mansions in central Sweden and Stockholm, some influenced by the French Baroque. His most important ecclesiastical structure was the Kalmar Cathedral (begun 1660).
