Record Type: Person
Master of the Luna Altarpiece (Spanish painter, active early 15th century)

Note: Named for an altarpiece in the Chapel of St. James, cathedral of Toledo. The chapel houses the tombs of the Lord High Constable of Castile, Don Alvaro de Luna and his wife Doña Juana de Pimentel. According to documents, the altarpiece was created in the 15th century by Sancho de Zamora, Juan de Segovia, and Pedro Gumiel. The altarpiece had formerly been attributed to the anonymous Master of the Luna Altarpiece; although the names of the - not one, but three - artists are now known, the association between the names and their respective oeuvres is still uncertain.
