Anderton, Henry (British painter, 1630-after 1665)
|
Note: Possibly the student of Robert Streater, he dabbled in many genres before settling on portraiture. He painted the Duchess of Richmond, who introduced him to others in the court of Charles II. Later he worked with Pierre Lely, the famous portraitist. This joint work and the great scarcity of Anderton's work leads us to suppose that the majority of his paintings are registered in museums and collections under Lely's name. |
