Note: One of the seven districts in the administrative county of North Yorkshire. A shipbuilding port on the River Ouse with flour and mustard mills. It is believed to be the birthplace of Henry I (1068-1135), William the Conqueror's only English-born son. The abbey church here (built for the Benedictines established here in 1097) features fine Norman doorways. The Selby coalfield is near here.
