Hierarchy of Ballygalley (archaeological site)  Ballygalley (archaeological site)

Note: A Neolithic site on the northeast coast of Antrim; it was discovered in 1989 when worked flints and flakes and shards of pottery where discovered on the surface. Excavation work indicates two main periods of Neolithic habitation with the possibility of an earlier Mesolithic occupation. There is no evidence of any major post-Neolithic activity, as the site was apparently deliberately abandoned. There is evidence of farming and herding activity. Pitchstone fragments have been found here as well.
