Note: Kabyle is a ruined site north of the town of Yambol in central Bulgaria. It originated as a Bronze Age settlement in the 2nd millennium BCE. It was conquered by the Macedonians under Philip II in 342 BCE, and conquered by Rome in 72 BCE. It became a busy Roman city in the province of Thrace, and served as a rest stop on the road to Adrianople. It was a bishop's seat in the 4th century CE. The town was abandoned in the 6th century.
