Note: Bernina Peak on the border of Switzerland and Italy rises to 13,284 feet. The Swiss climber Johann Coaz first ascended it in 1850, and it is now a popular mountain for recreational climbers. It is part of the Bernina Range of eastern Switzerland along the Italian border, southeast of the Upper Inn River Valley.
