Note: Located 7 miles east of Brampton. Former farm that is on the site of a former fort along Hadrian's Wall. The medieval Birdoswald is first recorded in 1211. The Roman fort was originally astride the Wall, but was placed behind it when the wall curtain was realigned. The site had previously been associated with the documented Roman "Camboglanna," but "Camboglanna" is now believed to be the modern site of Castlesteads.
