Note: The city of Freising is situated on the Isar River, north northeast of Munich in Bavaria, southern Germany. It was an early seat of religious and temporal rule of bishops in the area, and was famed as Bavaria's first ecclesiastical and cultural capital. Its historic architecture features the Cathedral Hill, with the cathedral built in the 12th century, the Benedict Church built 1160 and renovated 1716, and St. John's Church built from 1319 to 1321. manufactures agricultural machinery glass, pottery, and beer, the brewery having been licensed in 1146. The 2004 estimated population was 42,700. |
