Note: A northeast suburb of Paris, Drancy was the site of battles between the French and Prussians in 1870. It was also the site of a Nazi concentration camp during the German occupation of France in World War II. The camp was active from 1941-1944. Approximately 70,000 French and non-French Jews passed through the Drancy camp before being transported to extermination camps in Poland, where most were killed.
