Note: Pforzheim is a city located in southwestern Germany on the northern edge of the Black Forest where the Nagold and Würm Rivers join the Enz on the French border. Originally a Roman settlement, it became a German town, chartered in 1195, and an important medieval center, famous for the production of jewelry and watches. It was sacked in the Thirty Years' War and again in the War of Grand Alliance in the 17th century. It was almost totally destroyed in World War II, but has been rebuilt and restored. Its 2004 estimated population was 119,500.
