Note: Located on the Zadorra river southwest of San Sebastián, the town was given charter by Sancho VI the Wise of Navarre in the 12th century. It was taken in 1200 by Alfonso VIII of Castile who brought it under his kingdom. It is the location of the old Santa María cathedral, founded in 1180 and rebuilt in the 14th century.
