Note: Was an important port of ancient Lycia, on the coast near the mouth of the Xanthos river. Was noted as the location of the Oracle of Patara; taken by Alexander in 333 BCE. Mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as the location of a visit by St. Paul. Currently a conservation area for the Caretta turtle.
