Note: Located SE of Damghan. It is a site with many celebrated Sassanian ruins and early sophisticated metal products. It was an early trade center. The site was continuously inhabited from about 3900 BCE to about 1900 BCE. The long habitation sequence has provided valuable evidence for the development of prehistoric pottery and metallurgy in northern Iran. To the southwest of the main mound, a large Sasanian palace was also uncovered. |
