Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Forest County Potawatomi Community. The reservation spans approximately 12,000 acres located primarily in Forest County, Wisconsin; a smaller portion of the reservation's land-base is also spread between Milwaukee, Fond du Lac, and Oconto Counties, Wisconsin. After being officially recognized as a federally-designated Tribe, the Forest County Potawatomi Community made its initial land purchases for a reservation through Acts of Congress dated June 12, 1913 and June 30, 1913. In an effort to uplift the epistemic authority of Indigenous knowledge systems and engage with Indigenous peoples' Right of Reply, ethical collaboration with the tribal chairperson's office and/or cultural center is highly encouraged for the most authoritative information about tribal reservations. |
