First established in 1875, the reservation spans approximately 15,527 acres of trust lands across the Volcan Mountains in north San Diego County, California within the Santa Ysabel Valley (known by the Iipay Nation as Ellykwanan). In an effort to uplift the epistemic authority of Indigenous knowledge systems and engage with Indigenous peoples' Right of Reply, ethical collaboration with the tribal chairperson's office and/or cultural center is highly encouraged for the most authoritative information about tribal reservations. |
