Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians. The reservation spans over 8,500 acres alongside the southern slopes of the Palomar Mountain in San Deigo County, California; it lies within traditional Luiseño territory. The reservation was first created by Executive Orders on December 27, 1875 and May 15, 1876. Though a portion of the original reservation was returned back to public domain in accordance with an Executive Order dated May 3, 1877, the reservation's boundaries were again expanded and solidified on September 13, 1892. A subsequent allotment of 634 acres comprises the reservation's current boundaries.
