Note: Celtic center that became the most important Roman legionary camp in the area. Flourished in the 2nd and 4th centuries CE when it had a population of more than 50,000. It was Tiberius's base for his attacks on the Macromanni in 6 CE. Later was destroyed by Germans in ca. 400.
