Note: Located on the Ionian sea; founded about 680 BCE near modern Capo Zefirio, by the Locrians, apparently by Opuntii (East Locrians)was the first Greek colony to have a written code of law, developed in ca. 660 BCE; was a thriving center that founded other colonies and repulsed attack by Crotone in 6th cen. BCE; captured by Rome 205 BCE, destroyed in 10th century.
