Note: Northern Īrān; located on the route of Alexander the Great. Former capital of ancient Hyrcania. Its exact location is unknown. Several sources equate Zadracarta with Asterābad, present-day Gorgān. Other sources equate it with the mound at Qalʿa-ye Ḵandān, on the outskirts of Gorgān.
