Note: Andorra la Vella is the capital of the nation of Andorra, located near the confluence of the rivers Valira and Valira del Norte in a narrow valley. It remained isolated from the outside world after joint governorship by the Bishop of Urgel, Spain, and the French head of state was established in the 13th century. In the 20th century, the town grew into a modern shopping and tourist center, where goods from other European nations and from Asia are marketed duty-free. |
