Note: One of the most important prehistoric settlements discovered in South East Asia, Ban Chiang reveals evidence of farming and the manufacture and use of metals. Remains date 2100 BCE to around 200 CE. It was accidentally discovered in 1966, which prompted further excavations. It is on UNESCO's World Heritage list and the United Nations' List of Protected Areas.
