Note: Refers to the glaze of white porcelain that is decorated with blue under the glaze. Underglaze blue had been used in the Middle East from the 9th century; it was introduced to China in the Yuan dynasty (1279-1368). Particularly notable are the blue-and-white wares produced in China during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. Underglaze blue was introduced to Europe from China in the 18th century.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar het glazuur van wit porselein dat is versierd met blauw onder het glazuur. Onderglazuur blauw werd vanaf de 9e eeuw gebruikt in het Midden-Oosten; het kwam tijdens de Yuan-dynastie (1279-1368) in China terecht. Vooral opmerkelijk is het blauwwitte aardewerk dat tijdens de Ming- (1368-1644) en Qing-dynastieën (1644-1911) in China werd geproduceerd. Onderglazuur blauw kwam vanuit China in de 18e eeuw in Europa terecht. |
